The simulation conditions are 50 mTorr for the total gas pressure and 200 V for the peak of the RF voltage at a frequency of 13.56 MHz. The magnetic field is varied from 0 to 50 G. The effect of the partial pressure ratio
of O-2 in the mixture and the effect of the magnitude of the magnetic field are discussed. In particular, the results show an increase of the plasma density that is ten times higher in the presence of a magnetic field. (C) 2011 American Institute of Physics. [doi:10.1063/1.3569708]“
“Objective. The paper reports a custom-made trifocal transport distractor assisted by miniscrew implant anchorages (MIAs) used to reconstruct maxillary defects and evaluates the clinical results of function and esthetics.
Study design. Eight patients aged 19-43 years who suffered regional maxillary defects were
involved. Selleck Thiazovivin Each one underwent segmental bone excision of the maxilla and distraction osteogenesis (DO) in the defect region by a custom-made interoral 3-dimensional distractor which was activated by orthodontic elastic force assisted by MIAs at the rate of <= 1 mm/d.
Results. New arced bone was found and filled the defect. The average amount of distraction was 13.6 mm (range 10-18 mm). Occlusion relationship was restored via this method, CH5183284 cost with subsequent placement of oral implants and prosthesis. The regenerated bony segment can be bent to form a curved arch.
Conclusion. A combined orthodontics and DO technique can be used to treat partial maxillary defects successfully. (Oral Surg Oral Med Oral Pathol Oral Radiol Endod 2010;110:e1-e7)”
“Rett syndrome
is a neurodevelopmental disorder predominately affecting females. The majority of patients have epilepsy in the early stages of the disease. This study evaluates the clinical course of epilepsy and the effect of antiepileptic drug treatment in Rett syndrome using retrospective data analysis. Epilepsy was present in 16 of 19 (84%) patients with Rett syndrome in this series. The mean age of seizure onset was 4 years. Remission of seizures was achieved after the first monotherapy in 56% and after the second selleck monotherapy in 18.5% of patients. Valproate, lamotrigine, and carbamazepine were the drugs used most frequently as monotherapy. Valproate monotherapy was highly effective as 75% of treated patients achieved seizure remission. Monotherapy with lamotrigine or carbamazepine was effective in half of the treated patients. There was a clear tendency toward seizure remission after the age of 15 years.”
